Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

- Jesus, teaching his disciples to pray.

Psalm to Jesus

At the morning service on 23rd October Nigel spoke on ‘Connecting with God’.  At the end Jan brought forward this prayer which she had written which complemented the talk beautifully:

Lord let me hold Your hand

Your big strong carpenter’s hand

So strong yet so gentle

I feel Your pulse, Your lifeblood

We are connected You and I

You give me life, You are life

You infuse me with all I need

Like a baby being fed through an umbilical cord

I receive from You my daily bread,

My strength and all that I need

I am tempted to cry “don’t let go”

But in the stillness I know You won’t

Your hold on me is eternal

Tentatively I let go of everything except You

I go forward into tomorrow

Hand in hand with You

Go to sleep My friend

Lay down your head on a pillow of peace

I will handle the cares of the day

My angels will fight your battles,

Through the depth of the night

Rest and do not wrestle

There is no need, there is no need

I am The One who never sleeps

Allow Me to work out My plans

Let Me take care of things

After all no-one does it better than Me

Trust Me, choose to trust Me

Let go, relinquish control, and cut the strings

You are safe, I am here, and I see you

Relax and sleep and dream

Dream of the hope the sunrise brings

And leave all the rest to Me

Inner Healing

Inner healing is about enabling people to receive the full benefits of being ‘saved’.  The New Testament Greek word ‘sozo’ is a clue.  It gets translated into English as ‘saved’ but its full meaning is ‘saved, healed and delivered’.  Sozo is the name of one of several inner healing ministries; the Freedom in Christ course covers similar ground and in the Healing Rooms Scotland context it is called ‘Deeper Healing’.

Inner healing is about:

An inner healing session typically takes between one and two hours - though a second appointment is sometimes useful.  It’s not an alternative to counselling but is often a useful first step.

Inner healing ministry is available through East Kilbride Healing Rooms.  For folk in our church it can sometimes be arranged internally.

Prayer Attributed to Sir Francis Drake (1577)

Disturb us, Lord, when

We are too pleased with ourselves,

When our dreams have come true

Because we dreamed too little,

When we arrived safely

Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when

with the abundance of things we possess

We have lost our thirst

For the waters of life;

Having fallen in love with life,

We have ceased to dream of eternity

And in our efforts to build a new earth,

We have allowed our vision

Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,

To venture on wilder seas

Where storms will show Your mastery;

Where losing sight of land,

We shall find the stars.

We ask you to push back

The horizons of our hopes;

And to push back the future

In strength, courage, hope, and love.

This we ask in the name of our Captain,

Who is Jesus Christ.
